When fine powder fails to flow, bridges in the hopper, feeds inconsistently or fills the mold unevenly, assess laboratory flow results, dry-powder feeding, MIM feedstock rheology and equipment condition separately.
This page is a typical project plan and does not correspond to a specific customer name or unconfirmed delivery results.
Divide similar projects into four executable links
To resolve fine-powder feeding and production-consistency issues, distinguish laboratory flow tests, dry-powder feeding, feedstock rheology and mold filling.
Project goal: stable powder feeding, not a single flow-test number
First identify whether the problem arises at the powder funnel, during feedstock compounding, in feeding the injection machine or during mold filling. Each stage requires a different evaluation method.
Common difficulties: the interaction between fine powder, agglomeration and the environment
Particle size, morphology, surface state, moisture content, static electricity, storage and handling will all affect flow. Hall's lack of flow does not mean that the powder cannot be used in MIM.
Tongcheng plan: detection methods correspond to on-site performance
Use Hall flow testing or an applicable Carney method together with apparent and tap density, the full particle-size distribution, packaging and storage conditions, and the customer’s equipment to assess improvements to sieving, blending or operation.
Verification focus: continuous feeding and part consistency
In addition to laboratory data, record hopper-bridging frequency, variations in powder feeding, shot weight, short shots or flash, and dimensional and appearance results during continuous production.
The engineering team can further evaluate based on actual grade, particle size, process, target results and procurement plan.
