Limits of the Hall method
Hall flow rate applies to powder that can pass through the specified funnel. A fine or non-free-flowing powder without a Hall value is not automatically unsuitable for MIM.
Other methods for non-free-flowing powders
The Carney funnel offers another comparison method for certain non-free-flowing powders, but elapsed times from different methods must not be compared directly.
Evaluate performance in the customer’s process
Actual powder feeding, feedstock rheology, injection filling and die filling also depend on equipment, formulation, environment and operation. Correlate laboratory data with production results.
