ENGINEERING SUMMARYEngineering summary

Water atomization and gas atomization will produce different particle states and powder properties, but the final suitability still depends on the alloy, particle size, post-processing and customer process.

ENGINEERING EXPLANATION

Interpret the relationships between variables, not a single parameter

Compare the typical particle and powder characteristics of water atomization and gas atomization, and explain that you cannot select powder based on process name alone.

01

The two routes have different concerns

Water atomization is commonly used in the industry to produce fine powder and powder for powder metallurgy, and gas atomization is also commonly used to obtain powder with higher roundness. Actual morphology, oxygen content, satellite powder and particle size distribution depend on the equipment and specific process.

02

You cannot choose powder based on atomization name only

MIM, pressing and sintering and additive manufacturing have different powder requirements. Particle size, morphology, density, flowability, oxygen content and final manufacturing results should all be compared when purchasing.

03

Tongcheng’s communication priorities

Based on its independent combined water-gas atomization, sieving classification and mixing capabilities, Tongcheng discusses powder solutions according to customers' material, particle size and forming and sintering requirements.
